Use the research sources below to gather information about your colony. You are looking for the following information:
- Reason colony was founded.
- Economic, Religious, Political, Other-All colonies had some sort of economic factor associated with them but some were founded strictly for economic reasons. All these factors may come into play so be sure to hit the important points.
- Founder of Colony-Some colonies were established by a single person, others by a group of people-give some insight into who was responsible for establishing colony if there is a specific person/group of people-this may include a Joint Stock Company
- Geography of Colony-region colony was in (New England, Middle and Southern) land features, climate, etc.
- Lifestyle of colony-Major religion(s), occupations, government, any major events in the colonial history prior to 1755,
- A map of colony and a map of region colony is located in
- Some pictures (no more than 5) that illustrate colonial life in your colony

- What were some other names for your colony?
- Who were the important people at the time?

- When searching for images, go to Google Advanced Search and select Usage Rights - - Free to Use or Share from the drop-down menu.
- You can also use Wikimedia Commons to search their database of over 16,000,000 user-submitted, free-to-use images.

Objective: Students will work in groups to create a digital poster for one of the 13 Colonies using the digital tool of your choice. You are including your research findings on your digital board.

Part 3 ~ Infomercial (Project Extension)
You will create an infomercial for your colony. In your infomercial you are trying to persuade people to move to your colony. You should use the information from your poster to make your colony appealing to others in Europe. In your video include the following:
Your video should be at least 30 seconds in length and no more than 2 minutes. All information should be accurate and reflect the date of the advertisement. Use props and other web 2.0 tools to enhance your video.
You will create an infomercial for your colony. In your infomercial you are trying to persuade people to move to your colony. You should use the information from your poster to make your colony appealing to others in Europe. In your video include the following:
- What types of employment opportunities does your colony offer?
- What geographic features make your colony appealing to people back in Europe?
- What social opportunities are available? (Government and Religion)
- What separates your colony from the others?
